I’ve always wanted a house with a secret passageway; maybe one where I can play Chopsticks on a piano and a bookshelf will hinge open. Not nearly enough houses have them. Isn’t room décor with secret elements like living in a spy movie? Spies are always surrounded by elegance and gadgetry, combining functionality with flair. Whether that gadgetry is a residential splurge, or a luxury suite perk, it’s available in a variety of home décor mechanisms, including a motorized flat-panel lifting mount for cabinets.

These motorized flat-panel lifting mounts for cabinets are a way to both impress guests and consolidate space, hiding a television display within a piece of furniture when not in use. You may have seen motorized art display covers where a wall-mounted painting slides to reveal a TV. Lifting cabinets are an even more versatile, elegant form of these types of hidden display options. They allow placement anywhere in a room, in addition to a customizable furniture décor- enhancement. There are, however, several things to consider when determining where to go for your motorized flat-panel lifting mounts for cabinets. Consider “raising” the following questions when you’re in the market for one:

Does it protect the equipment from damage?

With all lifting mounts, weight capacity is an important element in the design. The motor on the lifting mechanism must be strong and steady in order to lower the display safely into the cabinet without dropping it with any sort of force that might cause damage. This means that the mounts absolutely MUST go through a thorough testing process in order to ensure that they can bear the display weight properly. For example, we test all of our mounts to four times their weight capacity in order to ensure that your display investment will be protected; including motorized cabinet lifts that place importance on durable mechanics to safely raise and lift the display. Our single pole lift holds flat-panels up to 180 lb., and our dual pole lift holds up to 360 lb., but testing those far beyond their limits ensures both product and user safety.  We also perform cycle testing, lifting and lowering the flat-panels to over 25000 cycles without failure. This ensures that each of our motorized flat-panel lifting mounts for cabinets performs with minimal maintenance, offering a low cost of ownership over an extended period of time. This is particularly important in hospitality environments, where it also allows for hotel rooms to stay rented rather than necessitating service call time slots.

Does it provide an optimal user experience?

Motorized flat-panel lifting mounts for cabinets should provide a smooth operational experience for the user. That means no squeaky gears, jerking movements, or hard-to-operate equipment. Premier Mounts uses a tried and tested lifting column for smooth operation, lifting and lowering the display at a thrust of 600 N (nutons) per leg, with an ultra-quiet motor, a speed level of 38 mm per second, and a stroke length of 980 mm to extend the display to an optimal viewing height. These motors are built for easy programming and operated with a hand-held wireless remote, allowing the user to lift and lower the display at the touch of a button.  These lifts can also be customized to fit individual needs of the project, such as in cases where larger panels require a different stroke length.

Does it provide 360-degree aesthetics?

Motorized flat-panel lifting mounts for cabinets can be placed anywhere in the designated room, meaning that most or all of the sides can be visible. Blending the piece in with the rest of the room décor is important here, so understanding what finishes are available and having options for a customized cabinet can make all the difference. It’s also important to have the proper cable management for all of the included devices, not only for a clean look, but to ensure that nothing is damaged while the cabinet lifts and lowers.

Depending on the application, different designs may be better suited for the environment, including box-in-box, piano hinge lid, or floating lid cabinets. Box-in-box allows for the entire display to be completely encased within a cabinet box and the screen covered with clear acrylic, not only protecting your equipment but also hiding the rear of the display from view when in use. The box in box option also optimizes safety as it minimizes the risk of accidents involving pinched fingers during use. Piano hinge lids and floating lids allow displays to rise out of the cabinet with the display backing visible, making it a good option for cabinets placed against a wall.

How is it integrated into the room?

Motorized flat-panel lifting mounts for cabinets are perfect for a variety of applications, maximizing space and protecting expensive equipment. Many hotels use lifting cabinets as luxury room amenities, adding to their guest experience to create a “viewing experience.”
